How to order Class III Items

FAQs

Is it legal to buy suppressors in the state of Texas?

Yes! In fact, you can even buy fully automatic weapons (pre 1986). In addition to suppressors, we also handle other NFA items, such as short barreled rifles.

Can any FFL sell and/or transfer Class III Items?

No. They must have a special tax stamp (SOT). Many refer to these as class III items, which is not always true. They are also known as class II items it all depends on which type of FFL license the dealer has. The easiest terminology is to refer to them as NFA items.

How long does it take to get Class III Items?

It will take a total of 4-6 months to receive your tax stamp for the item. At that point, the Class III item can be transferred to you.

What is the process for applying for the tax stamp?

1. Select suppressor.

(Form 4 in duplicate)
3. Provide a copy of your NFA trust (
email us for details) and skip steps 4-6.

Can my suppressor be shipped directly to me?

NO. If you are out of state Strong Point Tactical will only transfer your NFA Class III item to a Federal Firearms Licensed (FFL/SOT) Class III Dealer.

Transfers by FFLs/SOTs to other FFLs/SOTs require the filing of ATF Forms 3, Application for Tax Exempt Transfer and Registration of a Firearm, to register firearms to the transferees. Forms 3 must be approved by ATF before transfers may be made. This process usually takes 3-6 months. Once approved we may ship the Class III item to your dealer and you will need to fill out the paperwork with them. The process is as follows:

1. Purchase class III item from Strong Point Tactical
2. Provide us with an FFL Class III dealer in your state.
3. You or your dealer must email a copy of your dealers FFL and  SOT be sure to place          your order number and name in the email.
4. Strong Point Tactical verifies dealers credentials.
5. Strong Point Tactical will fill out Form 3 with the ATF and the 3-6 month wait begins for approval.
6. Once Form 3 comes back from ATF with approved stamp, Strong Point Tactical will ship out your Class III item to your local dealer.
